| Membership | Women Men |
| Founded | Founded in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in 1950 by Dr. Margaret Healy according to the inspiration of Fr. Thomas Judge,
CM; approved as a pious union in 1964 by the Holy See through the Archbishop of New
York. |
| Purpose | To preserve the
faith among
people who are spiritually neglected and to develop a missionary spirit in the laity. |
| Dedication | Members dedicate their lives to
the Most Blessed Trinity, through profession of the private vows of poverty, chastity and
obedience. |
| Apostolate | By their personal witness and
transforming presence, members engage in various missionary activities that the Church wants,
which are good and necessary, and have a note of abandonment about them. |
| In The World | Members are lay persons living
in the world. Members wear no distinctive habit, dress or uniform. They dress as modern
Christians according to the fashions of the times. They choose their own field of secular
profession or employment as well as their own place of residence, subject to their Superior's
approval. Nothing is required of members that will limit in any way their secular way of life and
their effectiveness as apostles in the world. |
| General Aim | The Institute is to glorify the
Triune God and to sanctify its members by the practice of their three vows of poverty, chastity
and obedience. The vows are professed annually for the first five years, then for life. A period of
training precedes the first profession of vows. |
| Spiritual Formation | Each member follows a
daily rule of life, which includes Mass and Communion, vocal and mental prayer and spiritual
reading. Provision is made for two weekend retreats annually, meetings and instructions.
Aspirants and Candidates receive special spiritual training. |
| Requirements | Desire to live a life of
consecration to God in the world; a practicing Catholic; demonstrating a love for neighbor; and a
spirit of sacrifice. |
| Affiliation | The Blessed Trinity Missionary
Institute is one branch of an apostolic family, who have been called by God to be missionaries in
the Church. We have a special relationship with the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed
Trinity, the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, and the Missionary Cenacle
Apostolate. |
